Hello everyone,
Winters are here and it is quite cool here in India, pretty early I must say. The skin has started to get drier than normal. I hope the weather is pleasant at your end. It has been almost 4 years now and I have hardly done any posts related to DIY (Do It Yourself), can't believe it right?? Anyway will try and do as often as I can or whenever possible. So if you know me personally I rarely do my make up completely because I don't like torturing my skin with too many face products. A good moisturizer, BB cream, powder is enough as my base make up. So I have tried a couple of BB creams in the market - Ponds, Garnier, Inveda, Fair & Lovely and they are amazing too but what if one can custom make it with the products they have? Sounds cool, isn't it??

About BB cream: (Source: Wikipedia)
BB cream is also known as blemish balm or beauty balm.It is a cosmetic item sold mainly in Asian markets, although the majority of larger beauty brands have introduced BB creams to Western markets.BB cream is promoted as an all-in-one facial cosmetic product to replace serum, moisturizer, primer, foundation and sunblock.[3] It can be worn alone as a tinted moisturizer, over serum and moisturizer as a regular foundation, and under powder, depending on the desired amount of coverage.
So I have read many posts on this DIY and seen videos as well so I do not claim that this is my invention/recipe. Before you attempt any DIY products please do a patch test as everyone's skin is different. I have oily to combination skin and is more dry at this time of the year. So without further ado let me show you how I make BB cream at home.
I have used the following products from my stash you can use whatever you have and may suit you!
Nivea Soft Light Moisturizer
Oriflame's The One Illuskin Foundation in Olive Beige
VLCC Matte Look Suncreen Lotion with Pineapple extract (SpF 30) - Tinted sunscreen
Maybelline White Superfresh compact powder in Pearl (crushed to powder)
Container and spatula/spoon to mix ingredients together
Empty container to store BB cream

Follow the steps below:
Start adding moisturizer to an empty container. You can Iball it according to your skin dryness. For oily skin please use oil free moisturizer or aloe vera gel
Next I added a foundation darker than my actual color because I had one and also adding moisturizers and other elements would lighten it for my skin tone and match it better
Next I added sunscreen which is very important for the skin - day or night, summer, winter or rainy sunscreen is a must. This one was tinted you can use any normal sunscreen you may have
Lastly you can add any compact powder/loose powder you may have. The one which has some color to it would be better because we do not want to look like a ghost right?
Mix everything together if it is darker than your skin tone add more moisturizer and sunscreen and lighter then add more foundation. And Viola! you have your own custom made BB cream ready to use!
Before - application - later

I have applied the BB cream in the picture above.Strangely I look dark in the first pic because of lighting but anyways the difference is clearly visible.I would suggest making only that much which would last 2 weeks. Now one may argue why do this hardwork rather buy one from market for same amount. Well not all BB creams suit women of color and our Indian skin tone. Also if you are a working women nobody has time for makeup that is when just applying this will save you lots of time. Since I work from home I just apply this some kajal ,mascara, lipstick/tinted lip balm I am good to go.This won't have coverage like your foundations but definitely will make you look polished and even out your skin tone making you look glowy and fresh. One could add concealer, liquid highlighter if they want but make sure you add too much or else would look like a shiny disco ball. For dark circles one may use a concealer.
So this is how I make my own custom made BB cream.Hope you find this useful try and will try it sometime. If you make it and share it on social media do not forget to tag me there. Do let me know your thoughts in the comments section. Would love to hear from you all ☺
Until next time.... Take care xoxo
