It seems Maya wants me to bake... with my daughter, lol!
But wow, the chest contained every single thing we could possibly need! I love it!
And the gift boxes? All the ingredients were in them!
We got a total of 4 recipes from Maya and our first assignment was to make gasp... Peanut Butter & Choco Chip Cake... using Maya Cake Flour.
My daughter and I donned our aprons and whipped out the recipe booklet. Challenge accepted, game on! I just hope it's edible, hahahaha!
I taught my daughter how to grease a baking pan and she insisted on doing it herself.
Um... I had to google how to line the pan with a baking sheet. Actually, I watched a YouTube video, lol. And this is why I need my smartphone beside me when I bake.
Gotta love the Frozen-themed Maya Cake Flour!
My daughter and I did every step together!
She has always had a penchant for cooking and baking so baking proved to be a super fun bonding activity for us. We started by combining the dry ingredients. Then we creamed butter, peanut butter, and sugar in another bowl. The instructions were very easy to follow. We added eggs, milk, and the dry ingredients afterwards. No sweat! Coming from me, that means it's really easy to do, lol! My daughter was so awed at how all the solid ingredients transformed into smooth and creamy cake batter. The last step involved folding in semi-sweet chocolate chips into the cake batter, after which we poured it all into the cake pan and popped it in our pre-heated oven. While the cake was baking, we proceeded to prepare the Chocolate Buttercream that we would frost it with.
Wow our kitchen smelled really good while our cake was baking in the oven!
I baked the cake for 35 minutes.
I transferred the cake onto a glass plate.
We let the cake cool for a bit before frosting it.
Tadaa!
This is actually our first legit baking session. In the past, we would play-bake using Japanese candy kits. Thank you Maya for that much-needed push!
Here's a slice of our Peanut Butter & Choco Chip Cake!
Of course we had our cake and ate it too -- not only was it edible, it was actually pretty good! I'm sharing the recipe here so you too can try making it at home.
Stay tuned because this is just the first in a series of yummy recipes from Maya! Our next project: Oatmeal Honey Cookies! I'm actually looking forward to it because my daughter and I had a blast making the Peanut Butter & Choco Chip Cake.
