My dessert invention -- Lemon Square Inipit Trifle!
Look at what greeted me the moment I arrived home from Singapore -- a big box full of Lemon Square Inipit!
But with this box comes a mission: I need to create an original dessert using Lemon Square Inipit! Now my regular readers know that I don't cook and so this is EXTRA challenging for me, hahaha! Inipit literally means "pressed" in Filipino. It's a flat pastry made of flour, milk, lard, and some sugar. Lemon Square's Inipit has two layers of sponge cakes with rich and creamy filling pressed in between. They're super soft, light, and flavorful -- perfect as a snack or dessert!
But what I don't have in cooking skills I make up for in imagination. I have a lot of imagination, particularly imagining a yummy dessert in my head that's easy to do and has NO cooking involved, hahaha! So anyway, I thought of making a Trifle using Lemon Square Inipit. I dub it as Lemon Square Inipit Trifle! A Trifle is an English dessert that is usually made with custard, fruit, sponge cake, and whipped cream. You only need 3 ingredients for this dessert: Lemon Square Inipit, all-purpose cream, and fruits. Tools? You only need containers and a bread knife.
This particular dessert lets me use all 6 Lemon Square Inipit variants: Pandan, Queso, Ube Pastillas, Custard, Chocolate, and Lemon.
Step 1: Unwrap the Lemon Square Inipit cakes and lay them flat on a plate or any clean surface. Read more »
