A ton of you have asked me about my experience with laser hair removal since I last talked about my laser hair removal. I have been doing laser treatment for the past 2 years or so. I started with under my arms and completely fell in love. While it’s a very easy procedure (and you can find great deals on websites such as groupon/yelp) I highly recommend researching the treatment centers thoroughly before committing your laser treatments. I have heard horror stories about scarring/burns/excessive hair growth from my friends who have gone to an unreliable place because they received a great deal online – do NOT make the same mistake! This is your body – invest and take good care of it!
To keep this blog post simple, I thought I would answer some questions that I have received from you all in the past few months – anything else you want me address, please leave in the comments below!
When will I see a difference in the hair growth?
Personally, I saw a major difference from my very first treatment. I did not have to shave/wax as much and by the 3rd or 4th treatment, I was completely hair free!
How many treatments do you need?
I hate to say this answer because no one likes to hear it, but it honestly just depends on the person and your hair. The industry answer is 6 sessions to really remove the entire hair from the root of a certain area, but even so – you might need to go back once or twice a year for touch ups!
How much does it cost?
Again, it depends on a lot of factors – The treatment center, the size of area, location etc. I have seen amazing deals on websites like groupon and such but I suggest to do your research on the center as much as possible. Treatment can start from $100 and go upto $5000+. It might seem like a very expensive procedure, but it’s completely worth every penny!
Does it hurt?
It depends on the area. Some will hurt more than others. The pain is very bearable and will only last during the laser. Once you are done, it’s feels like nothing even happened!
Do you get scarring/burns?
I don’t have sensitive skin, so thankfully I did not have any scarring/burns. I have heard that people with very sensitive skin are more prone to scarring/burns (makes sense!). Make sure to bring up all skin concerns to your technician.
Does the hair disappear completely?
Yes and no. When I first started out with laser hair removal under my arms, my hair disappeared completely for a full year. I started to notice tiny hair growing back after a year so I went back for touch ups and now I am hair free!
Does laser hair removal work on all types/shades of hair?
Laser hair removal works best on thick, dark hair (lucky for us desi girls, lol) but that’s not to say it doesn’t work on lighter/thinner hair. It’s best to consult your technician for questions as they can evaluate your situation and advise you accordingly.
I hope that helped answer some of your questions! I said it before, and I will say it again – please do your research and don’t fall for “deals” – laser hair removal can go very wrong if you go to the wrong place/person so please be careful!
